Abrasive Wheels

Abrasive wheels are essential equipment in many industries. The range of wheels now available makes them even more flexible and effective workshop tools. But inexperience or carelessness in the use of abrasive wheels can be very dangerous. Serious accidents can and do occur without proper training.

Training is a legal requirement. The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) require employers to provide adequate training and to ensure that abrasive wheels are operated only by employees who have received appropriate training in their safe use. If you are self-employed, the regulations still apply.

Course Content:

  • the features of an abrasive wheel and how to protect yourself
  • how to operate your abrasive wheel safely and look after the machine
  • how to get the best results the regulations governing
  • the use of such equipment

Course Length: 1/2 day, but the course length is variable, so it may run on for those trainees requiring more practical
